Week 18

Week 18 News

The Bump

Yep, still just a cheeseburger.

Gender
I know all of the wives tales indicate that this bambino is a little boy, however my mother says that she carried both of her pregnancies with my brother and I exactly the same--very easily, but slightly more braxton hicks contractions with my brother.  Y'all, my 5% chance that this could be a little girl doesn't seem so remote this weekend.

Movement
I thought I might have felt a little squirm or two!  I'm pretty sure it was just bubble guts, but I'm analyzing every sensation in my belly now.

Development
Da widdle brioche is about 5.5" from head to rump and weights between 5 and 7 ounces.  Bones are hardening, legs and arms and opening and folding, and baby may even be hiccuping.

Lots of round ligament pains this week as baby expands his house.

Maternity Clothes
On the hunt for an inexpensive party dress, I went to the local Ross and scored a few summer dresses for < $14.99.  They're not maternity dresses per se, but they offer plenty of room to grow.  I've been drawn to loose, sleeveless sheath dresses like my yellow and gray dress from week 16.  They're lightweight, cling-free without being shapeless, and should hold me through September.

Truth is, I haven't found a maternity department anywhere other than Target, and I'm not quite ready to spend Motherhood or Pea in the Pod money just yet.  Pretty fortunate that I'm able to move up a size when needed and have all my bases (and belly) covered.

Food Cravings
Hot dogs.  All I want are hot dogs, and no one lets me eat them.

Work Outs
Womp womp.  Let's just consider my evenings working retail to be my "work out," ok?  It's full of lifting, squatting and walking.  I've noticed that I'm having a harder time crouching down with my knees together.  My hips and pelvis don't give a fig for lady-like maneuvers anymore.

Sleep
Still napping for hours on the weekend.  I actually have to leave the house to prevent myself from sleeping all of my non-work hours away.

Apparently the other night I rolled over to face Shawn and shouted his name directly into his face...while I was dead asleep.  So rude.  Every time I think about it, it cracks me up.

Baby Prep
I have officially put Shawn in charge of researching strollers, car seats, bouncers, etc.  Left up to me, the purchasing decisions would be based on cuteness and price.  Shawn will actually make sure any and all of our baby contraptions are good quality and not likely to show up on a recall list in the near future.

Missing Anything
Hot dogs.  Being able to carry things without my belly twitching.

Thoughts & Feelings
House hunting is by far more tiring and frustrating than car shopping.  A baby can sleep in a sock drawer for the first six months of its life, right?

Looking Forward To
June!  There are so many fun things to look forward to in June.  Book clubs, birthdays, date nights, movie nights, parties.  It's going to be a fun-packed month.
