Week 16

Week 16 has been exciting! I received so many sweet wishes for a happy "soon to be" Mother's day.  I'm pretty sure baby had a significant growth spurt early in the week.  Our 16 week appointment went well: baby was hiding out low and to the left, but our doctor was able to find the heartbeat pretty quickly--strong and steady!  And our doctor decided to move our anatomy scan up two weeks.  We'll get to see our little brioche live and in action before we know it.

The Bump

The bump is a tricky thing.  One days it's there, the next day it's not!  After this impressive show on Wednesday afternoon, the bump has slowly condensed back down.  Baby appears to be growing up now rather than out.

Gender - Still feeling boy-ish, and my side of the family is in consensus.

Movement
Not much to report yet!

Development
Week 16: Baby is the size of an avocado and working on making fingernails.  Baby's eyes and ears are slowly moving into position on its head.

Maternity Clothes
I have one maternity dress that I bought on a whim at 8 weeks.  It turns my regular belly into a respectable looking bump, however I'm still in 98% of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe.  There's a lot to be said for favoring loose and stretchy dresses and skirts.

Food Cravings
Doritos, Rice & Beans, Avocados

Work Outs
I looked into pre-natal yoga classes in my town, but came up with very little.  I might try to join a class or two in the New Orleans or Covington area, but Youtube videos are probably the more convenient and cost effective way to go.

Sleep
I'm pretty sure da widdle brioche had a growth spurt on Tuesday evening.  I fell asleep in the bathtub fairly early in the evening and managed to drag myself into the bed by 11pm.  The next morning I woke up just before I was supposed to be at work, and I was s.t.a.r.v.i.n.g.  I thought I noticed a considerable bump, too!  By Saturday, though, my belly had evened back out.

There was actually a lot of bathtub sleeping this week.

Baby Prep
I have a mission.  The mission is to purchase a pack of diapers every time I go to the store.  This mission is still incomplete.

Missing Anything
Now, I know everyone tells me to take advantage of all the pampering perks that come along with growing another human being.  I should let people take care of me, and enjoy it!  But I gotta tell you, I miss being able to do little things on my own like carry a box of paper up the stairs or climbing onto counters and stretching to reach things from cabinets.  I know in a few more weeks it's going to be impossible for me to do these things anyway, so I'd better get used to accepting & appreciating help sooner rather than later.

Thoughts & Feelings
Feeling more tired this week than usual.

Looking Forward To
Out anatomy scan at the end of the month!  It's been so long since we've seen da widdle brioche on the screen, and I'm excited to see all the growth and movement that's supposed to have been taking place.
