Week 20

We've hit the 20 week mark which means we're half way there!  I was so excited during the first trimester that the time seemed to move so slowly.  Now I can't believe we've already tackled the first part of pregnancy and will meet da widdle brioche in just 20 more weeks!

The Bump

...looks who's getting bigger!

Gender
Holy cow, you guys...it's a GIRL!!!

Just in case you weren't sure, all of the gender wives tales are bogus.  Completely inaccurate.

For example:
Craving Salty Foods - Boy
Chinese Gender Chart - Boy
Sleeping on your left side - Boy
Slower Fetal Heartbeat - Boy

We're no longer calling it baby Condor, but I have no little gender-specific nicknames for a baby girl.  Or names at all.  I've always had a million girl names I've loved, but as soon as I learned da widdle brioche was a widdle girl, all of my great names flew out the window.

Movement
Da widdle brioche started thump-thumping around on Thursday.  It was such a joyful and exciting experience!  I texted everyone I could think of to let them know.  Feeling especially excited and relieved since there was no movement during the 19 week ultrasound and everyone had begun asking if I'd felt the baby yet starting around 16 weeks.  Baby was relatively quiet for the rest of the weekend, probably because I stayed on my feet getting everything ready for Sunday's gender reveal party.

Development
Baby is about 10.5 ounces and 6.5 inches from head to rump, or roughly the size of a banana.  Most of her organs are moving into place, she's practicing swallowing, and her skin is covered in cheesy vernix to keep her skin from pruning up in her little water world.

Maternity Clothes
Waiting for an opportunity to wear my new dresses!

Food Cravings
Let's talk food aversions instead.  Nothing too salty, nothing chocolatey, and no pizza please.

Sleep
I'm sleeping through the night pretty well so long as I don't about think anything right before going to sleep.

Baby Prep
I've been waiting until we find out the sex of the baby before doing too much, but it looks like it's full speed ahead now!

Missing Anything
Relaxation.  This week absolutely exhausted me with all of the party prep.  If there was room in our schedules and our budges for a vacation, I'd be blissed out on a beach before you could blink your eyes.

Thoughts & Feelings
Overwhelmed.  I feel like raising a baby girl comes with so many more concerns.  There are many more societal road bumps for women, and we'll have to work our hardest to help her overcome them.

Looking Forward To
Our 21 week ultrasound.  Now that I know she's wiggling around, I want to make sure that heart and spine of hers is healthy, too.
